In most cases the emergency response plans are carried by the organizations and governments as part of their commitment plans in ensuring safety as well as well the being of the citizens, employees among many other persons in the event that disasters take place. This emergency response plan will discuss the most crucial information in relation to the emergence actions, which will need to be considered in cases of disaster. Disaster recovery

A disaster is any situation which results either from the internal or external forces causing negative effects on the safety of individuals in that situation, and such kind of situations require that timely response measures to be made for the sake of the safety. The aim, with which the emergency response plans are carried out, is to ensure that there exists a clear framework upon which an institution will establish response plans as well as appropriate procedures for its operation.

This is to enable a form of coordinated response system to all emergence situations within its operations, within the shortest period of time. Finally, the emergency response plan is aimed at facilitating the sustainability of the operations of an institution to the normal situation, within a short range of time and in an orderly manner (Hiatt, 2000). Key areas Some of the areas to be addressed include the core processes or activities of the institution and the other support services, which can be related to the core processes.

The plans enable the institution to make acquisition of additional resources in case the disaster takes place. Arrangements have to be made on how the institution will seek assistance from outside parties in cases of disaster, and allowances made on the establishment of alternative strategies in case the initial strategies do not work well in address the needs in the cases of a strategy. Considerations should be made by the management of the institutions for additional costs.

In relation to this issue there is need for the institution to have in place an alternative system of operation, which can be adopted in case disaster disrupts the usual system of operation. The number of people and other resources in an organization need to be taken into record so as to devise plans. In relation to the resources, plans can be established as to how the resources can be used to carry out disaster recovery plans.

Finally consultations should be made to the relevant authorities to make them aware of their roles in the plans and also training programs devised to meet the requirements of the emergency programs (Edwards Information & LLC, 2007). General steps The general steps in a disaster recovery program include identification of the extent of the business plan, so as to be able to know the extent of the recovery program. Then the conduction of some forms of business impact analysis, whereby an assessment is made on the extent of the losses in the institution.

The third stage involves presenting the concept of disaster recovery to the top management level of the institution, to acquire the necessary support for the success of the disaster recovery programs. Following the presentation of the proposal to the top management, the following step is to educate the various departments on the role of the plan, and the level of support needed to sustain its success. Finally, set the disaster recovery team that will be able to implement the plans, and providing them with the necessary resources (Wallace, Webber & Webber, 2004).

Strengths and weakness The major strength is that the institution is always set to face the disaster situations if the arises, given that it is able to set aside the required resources to address the problems, and that it is able to devise alternative ways which can be adopted. The weakness with the disaster recovery programs is that it is more challenging to make estimations of the losses, and in that manner set aside the necessary resources to address the problem. Another issue is that it is hard to determine the actual disaster which is likely to take place.

In addition to that, designing coordinated activities to address the problems of the disaster is a challenge given that sometimes the institutions is likely to feel the shocks of the after the disasters disruption of the proper thinking of the management (Wallace, Webber & Webber, 2004). Conclusion Disaster recovery is an important aspect in dealing with the emergence cases in institutions, and they should be included in the strategic plans of the institutions so as to ensure that the sustainability is maintained in the general environment for the good of the society.
