The Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach would be used to develop the system because of time constraints in the development schedule. RAD is a linear sequential software development process model that emphasized on extremely short development cycle using a component-based construction approach. If the requirements are well understood and defined, and the project scope is constraint, the RAD process will enable a development team to create a fully functional system with in very short time period. RAD model has the following phases:
Brainstorming. The proponents used brainstorming where they share ideas and their creativity on how to approach and developed this study. Brainstorming focuses on quantity rather than quality of ideas. The assumption is that the greater the number of ideas generated, the greater the chance of producing a radical and effective solution.
Brainstorming is a group creativity technique designed to generate a large number of ideas for the solution of a problem. Since brainstorming focuses on quantity instead of quality, criticisms of ideas generated are put on hold. By suspending judgment, participants will feel free to generate unusual ideas.
In this phase, the researchers tried to conjure as many ideas as possible with the Parish Secretary for the preparation of the starting requirements of the system. Requirements Gathering and Analysis. The current method’s input and output forms are gathered together with the processes that transform these input forms into reports. The proponents have been done through series of gathering data and analysis and additionally, one of our classmate is serving in Most Holy Rosary Parish. The gathered information from interviews, observations and researched of the study are carefully analyzed to build a logical model for the new system. To further define and describe the new system process, the proponents used some tools like process modeling, structures data flow diagram to understand the differences of the current method and the proposed system to be developed in terms of functionality.
Prototype System. The first features of the system were terminated due to the problems encountered until the proponents reached the final system efficiently. The requirements gathered are transformed into a working prototype which includes some of the final features of the system. The proponents used to identify all the necessary outputs, interfaces processes. In addition, the proponents designed internal including the computer based and the manual features to generates that the system will be reliable, accurate maintainable and secure.
In this area, the proponents designed the solution based system on the requirements defined during the analysis. The proponents also designed the architectural components of the system, the databases, the user interface and its operating environment.
Object Creation. In this process, the proponents added some features of the proposed system. Additionally, they added the history of the Church. Other lesser features of the system are added into the prototype, and are ready for user review. User Review. The initial system was reviewed by the intended users and made suggestions. In this process a series of test were done to identify problems and define errors or bugs and modify these bugs. These suggestions created new sets of requirements. Depending on the degree of changes to the requirements, the developers had to go back to brainstorming activity or proceed to creating a new prototype based on the new sets of requirements.
Finalize Code. The defined process involved in the new system transformed. The codes are finalized after the users are fully satisfied with the system. This activity includes documentation, improving the interface of the system, and improving the efficiency of the system in terms of execution time and resource usage.
Deliver System. This is the final process where the system is put into production and runs actual transactions for the Most Holy Rosary Parish. The delivery of system involves training users on how to install and implement the system. This also involves user policies that helps reduce security risks during the implementation of the system. Figure 1 graphically shows all the phases that were discussed.
